Information about COSCO employees in 2005
(1) COSCO Group has 36,559 employees in the positions of operation and management and specialty technology in China, including 6,107 female employees, accounting for 16.7%.
(2) In China, the group has 19,986 technicians, the gender classification of which is not available in the human resource statistics of SASAC for state-owned economic enterprises.
(3) The group has 3,877 foreign employees, including 1,540 female employees, accounting for 39.7%.
(4) All contracted peasant crews are male.
(5) Explanation for low percentage of female employees: Male crews are the main part of COSCO staff, occupying a large percentage. Since there is hardly any female trainees majored in the sea navigation offered by domestic colleges and universities, female crews of the group have been enjoying a lower percentage.
