This report is a vivid reflection of COSCO Group’s great efforts to implement the Global Compact, undertake social responsibility and obligation, establish resource-efficient and harmonious enterprise, build up persistently growing enterprise, and realize sustainable development. It will inform COSCO’s staff, suppliers, clients, partners, shareholders and investors, the state’s administrative sectors, communities, and all related persons concerned about COSCO’s development, of COSCO Group’s social responsibility concept and practice as well as its efforts to drive the Global Compact and realize the world’s sustainable development.

In this year’s report, COSCO Group and COSCO Container Lines play the key
principal part. The key indicators of other subsidiary companies are brought
in the report of COSCO Group and the implementation of sustainable development
is stated through an investigation report. From next year, the coverage
of the report will be gradually extended, and all second-tier subsidiary
companies will be tried to cover in the report of 2008.
The report is written in both English and Chinese and the report auditing
is written in Chinese.

The report is available in both printing version and online version.
Online version covers management methods and performance indicators
of GRI Guidelines, in a bid to help stakeholders to audit COSCO Group’s
performance in the sustainable development. In order to save paper,
printing version only includes key contents of online version, including
basic situations of COSCO Group and highlighting the social responsibility-related
problems concerned by all parties. |

The online version is available at http//www.cosco.com. The COSCO Group’s Report on Sustainable Development is available at http//www.unglobalcompact.com, the website appointed by the United National Global Compact Office.
It is the first time for COSCO Group to compile a report on sustainable development. This report, focusing on 2005, collects some important activities of the group in fulfilling social responsibility before 2005 and reveals new measures in the realization of sustainable development in 2006. From 2006, COSCO Group’s report on sustainable development will be compiled in fiscal year as normal.
