When researching, approving and implementing investment projects, COSCO pays attention to and understands the performance of the cooperative parties in human rights through various channels. Before signing the procurement contracts, the company will also make every effort to understand the performance of suppliers in human rights. If any breach of laws, regulations or rules is found, the company will not cooperate with the supplier or not list the supplier into the qualified supplier catalogue. COSCO now has 20 key suppliers.
The human right training of COSCO's subsidiaries is mainly for management staff at all levels on the human right-related regulations that may be involved into the business management activities, and all employees on such aspects as right and interest protection, occupational health and physical safety. It is guaranteed that the training will be effective.
COSCO takes the safety of migrant workers as an annual evaluation indicator of enterprises, develops the Responsibility System for Management over Safe Construction of Migrant Workers and the Administrative Measures for Safe Construction of Migrant Workers, organizes migrant workers to take part in the technology training classes that will get the certificates issued by CSS and builds the platforms for migrant workers to learn technologies.
