Shipping companies all established the safety management systems that conforms to the international conventions and rules and Chinese laws and regulations COSCO Guangzhou organizes the evaluation for its shipping companies and off-shore enterprises on their safety management work once or twice a year, in order to identity risks, control danger sources and evaluate the completion of the safe management targets. In 2006, four shipping companies and 5 off-shore enterprises were rated as advanced units of safe production, and three departments and offices were rated as advanced teams of safe production. Timely safety notices will be given for extreme weather, material safety accidents or special situations to prevent accidents. On-site supervision and investigation are conducted fro ships and off-shore enterprises according to seasonable characteristics to understand the safe production situation, guide the safety work and discover problems and order rectification within the required period. The emergency rehearsal by both ships and off-shore enterprises is held every year according to regulations to improve the capability of commanding and disposing of the accidents.
