| ■ Measures for water saving |
As an important part for COSCO Group to save resources, water saving includes saving water on ships and saving water on lands. As for the waster saving on ships, COSCO installs the seawater desalinization devices on all ships, which can the waste heat of the ship engine to desalt seawater for the domestic water of mariners and the cooling water of equipment thus reducing the fresh water supply for ships and save the consumption of fresh water. Ship-building and ship-repairing enterprises are supposed to save water for manufacture use, and strictly prohibit water leaking. At the same time, they should carry out ocean environmental protection and decrease pollution to water resources. Meanwhile, ship-building and ship-repairing enterprises should be in cycle use of high-pressure water and drive the research on the direct use of seawater. |

| ※COSCO (Guangzhou) Shipyard takes measures to deposit and process the water of Pearl River with medicines, which will then be used as the high-pressure water for ships. In this way, the company saves about 17,000 tons of fresh water per year; COSCO (Nantong) Shipyard reforms the water network within the factory, using the water of Yangtze River to clean the toilets and irrigate lawns, flowers and grasses; as a result, the monthly water consumption is reduced from 70,000 tons to about 50,000 tons. While reducing the supply of the domestic water, COSCO (Dalian) Shipyard uses the processed reclaimed water to irrigate lawns, trees and flowers, achieving the goals of energy saving and greening. |
