IV. Policies, systems and proportions for the procurement of local suppliers
Procurement of fuel oil and ship-building. In recent years, COSCO has been sticking to conducting the annual audit for suppliers and ship-repairing facilities. The mechanism of the òsurvival of the fittestó plays a positive role in making suppliers and ship-repairing facilities ensuring quality, controlling prices and optimizing services, effectively reducing the shipping expenses and management risks. In 2006, the proportion of domestic fuel oil procurement was 5.54%, and the collective procurement of the fuel oil saved USD8.5 million.
