Performance indicators

In 2006, COSCO was for the first time listed in Fortune Global 500, ranking 488th with a revenue of USD15,413.5 million (equivalent to RMB122,882.5 million) recorded last year. COSCO achieved its goal of joining Global 500 three years in advance, becoming the China's first shipping company listed into Global 500. This inclusion demonstrated COSCO's international position and laid a foundation for COSCO to become a first-class multinational company as soon as possible. Being a new milestone of COSCO's development, this honor will have profound influence and historical meaning on further pushing the development of China's ocean shipping industry.
In 2006, a total of 3 shipping enterprises including COSCO were included into Fortune Global 500, indicating that now three giants are competing in the international maritime industry

Although COSCO ranked 488th of the Fortune Global 500 by sales revenues, it was ranked 328th by net profits, which strongly proved COSCO's excellent management.

I. Direct value created and distributed by COSCO
In 2006, COSCO finished 356 million tons of shipping volume and 1.7079 trillion ton-miles of turnover, up 12.8% and 9.32% respectively year on year; the combined market share amounted to 4.72%, and the profits for the full year reached RMB 15.041 billion in total.
