COSCO is actively engaged in China's maritime education undertaking, supporting the construction and the developm-ent of Qingdao Ocean Shipping Mariners College with a lot of capital. Since its establishment, Qingdao Ocean Shipping Mariners College has trained and delivered over 40,000 specialized talents for COSCO and the society, making great contributions to China's ocean shipping industry. Tianjin Mariners School, belonging to COSCO Bulk Carrier, trained high-quality shipping talents, which has trained over 100,000 mariners for shipping enterprises in aggregation since its establishment  
 
 
 

In 2006, COSCO debuted at Boao Forum for Asia as the solely lead developer and the permanent sponsor of the forum for the first time, responsible for organizing, reception and others of Boao Forum for Asia 2006.
China's Vice Chairman Zeng Qinghong presented Boao Forum for Asia 2006 and delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. Capt. Wei Jiafu, COSCO President, participated into the preparation and organization at the initial stage and delivered two speeches, as the member of the leading group of the forum for the first time.

Boao COSCO Co. Ltd, responsible for reception of the forum on behalf of COSCO, successfully completed the service guarantee work of the forum. Its òzero reception error and zero service accidentsó was highly recognized and praised by the central government officials, major officials of Hainan Province, Long Yongtu, Secretary General of Boao Forum for Asia and the presented domestic and foreign representatives and news media.
   
In order to support the construction of Boao Asia Forum, COSCO has invested over RMB2.6 billion in more than 20 sets of facilities including Boao Forum International Conference Center, and COSCO's enterprises in Boao provided over 2,000 job positions for local residents.
In 2006, COSCO's onshore and off-shore employees offered aids with the spirit international humanitarianism at the critical time when the lives and the property of other ships were seriously threatened, demonstrating their excellent professional demeanor and sincerety.
