Advanced concept and practice on corporate liability has become the core competitiveness of an enterprise, bringing large space for the development of enterprises.
In Feb. 2006, COSCO joined the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. COSCO hopes to cultivate international corporation partnership spirit, further consolidate the corporation's sustainable development management system, and fully fulfill social responsibility, by participating activities related to the Global Compact and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Special importance is attached to the following principles and conceptions in human rights, labor standards, environment, anti corruption, etc.
COSCO has realized that performing the principle of the global compact on the environmental protection conforms to the central government's requirements for carrying out the scientific development concept and changing the economic growth methods. It is also a reflection of implementing the scientific development concept. Performing the principles of the global compact on human rights and labors accords with the central government's òhuman-orientedó policy and the requirements of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee on building a socialist òharmonious societyó; performing the anti-corruption principle of the global compact meets the central government's requirements for strengthening the fine style of leaders under the new situations.
As a result, COSCO propels the strategy transformation, the operation mode transformation, business process reengineering thus the òbusiness modeló transformation with òglobalization thought, internationalized insightó, developing COSCO's basic drivers to the persistently growing and enhancing the competitiveness in the world. COSCO has been sticking to the management system innovation, tightly tracking the world's most advanced management criteria, actively build the business management system with COSCO characteristics, introducing scientific management thoughts and measures to constantly improve the enterprise structure and the enterprise management platform thus further laying a solid foundation for COSCO's fast growth and changing from a follower of the advanced management system certification methods to a creator of advanced management system certification methods. In the report for 2006, COSCO expands the scope to COSCO's all shipping companies, all logistics companies and all ship-repairing companies based on the successful pilot of COSCO Container Lines in 2005, with involved companies increasing to 15 from the 6 companies announced in the Sustainable Development Report 2005 that implemented the sustainable development management system; Meanwhile, COSCO (UK) Ltd is selected as an overseas pilot, while other tier2 companies will fully implement the sustainable development management system from the next year. |
