COSCO's 2007 work conference take performing the global compact and implementing the sustainable development as an important job, requiring COSCO's subsidiaries to fully perform the global compact responsibility by sticking to the scientific concept of development. It proposed that the leaderships of the group should, from a perspective of scientific development, deeply recognize the significance of performing the global compact to the enterprise and the positive role of performing the ten principles in improving the brand image of COSCO and winning customers' recognition. They should know that performing the global compact is not only a task of a unit or a department but a part of the enterprise culture.
In Mar. 2007, COSCO held the 13th conference of the operation management committee, conducting enough discussion and researches on the theme of òfully perform the global compact responsibility and constantly improving COSCO's international position and brand imageó and reaching a consensus. According to the conference, the significance of participating in the global compact should be deeply recognized, and social responsibility of COSCO should be defined. COSCO should attach great importance to and actively partake of the global compact according to the situation of China and the enterprise, continuing furthering this task.
