The COSCO Sustainable Development Report 2006 is compiled as required by the 2006 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) with the 10 principles of GRI and the special requirements by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for shipping companies. Meanwhile, it also caters to the requirements of SASAC's Central Government's Guiding Suggestions on Corporate Social responsibility.

In order to meet the conversion requirements of the 2006 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), COSCO immediately conducted the technology researches and compiled the Version Conversion Design and Compiling Guideline of COSCO for Sustainable Development Report and Indicator System And Reporting Guideline of COSCO for Sustainable Development. Meanwhile, COSCO designed the framework of the sustainable development report and the definition list for sustainable development indicators in accordance with the 2006 GRI guideline.
